Tropik’s timber is preservative treated and according to end use, and its future exposure to decay or insect attack. Minimum treatment level is H3 and they are termite resistant. Stress Grade – an automated strength grading machine (A Grader) was installed in 2017 to grade structural timber. Grading classes include F5, F7, F8 and F11 depending on the fibre strength of the wood.

As part of Tropik’s zero tolerance to quality defects, independent calibration tests of the A Grader machine is done simultaneously on quality control strength bending tester.
Tropik brings in matured premium logs all the way from Vanua Levu with an average age of 30years. 85% of structural timber out of these logs classify as F11 due to its fibre strength.
F11 strength grade structural timber is engineering requirement to certify building structures to withstand Category 5 cyclone wind loads e.g TC Winston in 2016.
