Fiji’s Largest Sawmill

Tropik Wood Industries Limited (TWIL) owns and operates Fiji largest sawmill, wood chip mill for exports and is also an independent power producer exporting excess power to the national grid.

TWIL is a 100% owned subsidiary company of Fiji Pine Limited. It was founded in 1987 under the name of Forestry Development Services Limited which was later renamed to Tropik Wood Industries Limited. It is the processing arm of the vertically integrated Fiji Pine Group.

In 2011 Tropik Wood Industries Limited undertook a major transformation project in order to drive efficiencies within its operations and more importantly to become a responsible and sustainable business venture. During this transformation the Drasa factory was been upgraded to entirely a new facility with state of the art machinery.

State-of-the-Art Mill Facilities

Since 2016 our Drasa factory has been transformed to almost entirely a brand-new facility. Major capital expenditure that forms part of this transformation includes:

    1. Soderhamn Erickson state of the art fully automated sawmill

    2. Windsor state of the art fully automated kiln

    3. Weinig state of the art fully automated planing and moulding machine

    4. Paul high precision docking machine

    5. Bezner Round wood processing machine

    6. State of the art water treatment facility

    7. Co-generation plant efficiency improvements

    2. New state of the art Mahild low temperature kiln

    3. Wairiki chipmill HV power project

Quality Certified Woodchips

In 2013, TWIL was certified by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC™) for Chain of Custody for the woodchip business.

TWIL has another wood chipping facility in Wairiki, Bua, Vanua Levu. Vanua Levu is the second largest island of Fiji. This facility is under a 100% owned subsidiary company, TropikWood Products Limited (TWPL). The entire facility was built and commissioned in 2012 and includes:

  1. Morbark chipping machine
  2. Chip pad with storage capacity of 80,000 GMT woodchips
  3. Heavy diesel machinery (excavators, loader, specialized woodchip dozers & generators)
  4. Woodchip vessel loading facility (wharf and loading conveyor systems)

TWPL’s operations is one of the major drivers of economic activity in Vanua Levu through its factory, logging and cartage operations. TWIL prides itself for being a responsible employer through many initiatives that are in place for our workers and continues to build upon this.
